Cassette is a player for a music library on a server you run. Your music never leaves that server, and there is no analytics, advertising or tracking of any kind in the app.

The short version. Signing in needs your email address and name. Your library, playlists and listening live on your own server. Nothing is sold, nothing is used for advertising, the DJ only sends anything after you agree to it, and you can delete all of it from inside the app.

What is collected

WhatWhyWhere it lives
Email address, name, profile pictureTo identify your account and show who is signed inClerk, and mirrored onto your own server
An account identifierTo attach your library to youYour own server
Your library, playlists and likesThey are the thing the app shows youYour own server
A play count per song, and a record of each listen (which song, and when)To order "listen again", the listening report and your monthly and yearly recapsYour own server
The song you last played, how far in, and a name and random identifier for the deviceTo offer to continue on another of your devicesYour own server
What you type to the DJTo build a set from your librarySent to DeepSeek through your server; not stored

A listen is recorded twenty seconds into a song, in your server's database, and is only ever read back to you. The device identifier is a random value created on install; it is not the advertising identifier and identifies nothing outside this app.

What is not collected

Who else is involved

Clerk handles sign-in and holds your email address, name and profile picture. Their privacy policy is at clerk.com/legal/privacy.

LRCLIB, and YouTube Music as a fallback, are asked for song lyrics. That request is made by the server, not by your phone, and it contains a song title and artist — nothing about you.

DeepSeek, an AI service, is used by the DJ, and only if you use it. Before the first set the app asks your permission. When you start a set, your server sends DeepSeek what you typed and the names of artists in your library with how often you have played them — never your email, name or account. DeepSeek's privacy policy is at deepseek.com. The library radio uses no outside service at all.

There is nobody else. No data is sold, rented or shared for advertising, ever.

How long it is kept

For as long as your account exists. The server keeps your library until you remove it; audio files are deleted once no account on that server holds them.

Deleting your account

In the app: Settings → Your account → Delete your account.

That deletes your library, your playlists, your likes and your listening history (counts, every recorded listen and where you left off), removes the audio files no other account on the server holds, and deletes the sign-in identity itself. It cannot be undone. Signing out, separately, removes every song saved on that phone.

Children

Cassette is not directed at children and collects nothing about age.

Self-hosting

If you run your own Cassette server, you are the operator of it: the data described above sits on your machine, under your control, and this policy describes what the software does rather than a service anybody else runs for you.
